BSE (UK), in association with Goepel Electronic presented a

A Day looking at Boundary Scan Technology:

What can you do with Boundary Scan (probably more than you think)
How does it work in practice
What is involved in making up a test and ISP application
Integrating Boundary Scan and Flying Probe - the whys and hows
The latest trends in Xilinx programmable parts
New tools for pin-pointing faults and reducing repair time and cost.

With live demonstrations

Call us on 01420 82122 to discuss

This day is suitable for design and test managers and engineers. It includes lunch and afternoon tea and is entirely free to bona-fide attendees.

Simple Introduction to Boundary Scan

Paul Phillips briefly goes through the basics of Boundary Scan – how it works and the types of test and in-system programming tasks it can be used for.

13.30

Boundary Scan in practice using CASCON Galaxy software

Controller: USB 1149.1-B

UUT:         GOEPEL Scan Trainer board

Gerhard Vieweg gives a comprehensive demonstration of Goepel’s CASCON Galaxy software, showing the steps involved in generating a complete application for test and in-system programming and the level of diagnostics which are achievable.

14.30

Combining  Boundary Scan with the Flying Probe

Nigel will discuss the synergies between Boundary Scan and Flying probe testing.  He examines the advantages of combining these two technologies and outlines the practicalities of putting a combined test solution together.

15.15

Break for afternoon tea

15.30

CoolRunner-II The Real Digital CPLD

An introduction to the features and benefits of Xilinx’s recently launched high speed, ultra low power CPLD.

Nick Mehta - Xilinx

16.00

Boundary Scan tests Digital and Analog connections – A Case Study

A case study which looks at a fairly typical boundary scan application which we have recently completed.  It discusses the techniques we used to dramatically improve test coverage and the cost of these in terms of hardware resource and programming effort.

16.30

The new Scantury Prober - an advanced diagnosis tool.

This novel product addresses many of the traditional limitations of Boundary Scan testing including identifying the location of an open circuit on a 2-pin net and checking for opens on a 1-pin net.  By combining optical test, roving probes and boundary scan this approach drastically reduces the time taken to diagnose and repair complex boards.
